PHP with online cedit card processing

After reading the posting on Versign, I was wondering what are some good companies that work well with PHP. A lot of the companies I have seen only give you a COM SDK, which is no good if you are using PHP on a LINUX platform. Or work best if they host your product database and want you to use their shopping cart. I like Versign but the cost is very high. I have looked at 2CheckOut and HostCharge but didn't like the commission charge and it is so cheap in comparison to Versign are they any good. What are some names of companies that charge a reasonable rate, that you can use you own shopping cart and work well with PHP/LINUX.
