Mike, I suggest you try the latest snapshot @ http://snaps.php.net/php-latest.tar.gz and configure like this: ./configure --with-gd=php --other options This will use the bundled GD library, which is more current than any 'official' release. The PHP Dev Team decided to bundle it to make sure there are no more weird problems with PHP in combination with GD. Derick Mike wrote:

I installed php and gd by rpm. I did try to install gd from the source, Did make install with no errors. Not sure where to go from here.
