There are a couple of ways I can think of doing this, depending on what
platform you are designing for.
One way would be to send the data you want printed to the browser formatted
as RTF. This means than someone using either MS Word or something like
StarOffice could simply safe the file and print it as normal.
There is an article on phpbuilder about doing this, take a peak at

Alternatively you could try using PDFlib or similair library, which would
allow them to be opened in all platforms that support Adobe Acrobat. Not
looked into this one much though.
