Hi Richard
Thank you for your suggestion. I guess you are right about the large string.
Only, I don't think I messed up my regexp. I made a copy and paste of the following
from a tutorial on ereg
$text="2aK3";
if(ereg("^[0-9]",$text)) {
echois valid;
}
else {
echois invalid;
}
and I get the following error in my error_log
FATAL: emalloc(): Unable to allocate -66488 bytes
I'll try and post it as an ereg() question and see what shows up.
Best regards
Klaus

I get the error msg mentioned above when I use the ereg() function. What is it, that I don't know?Your code is attempting to ask PHP for a string *SOOOOOO* large that it's beyond 2 billion bytes long... Either your Regex is just broken, or it's trying to do something that just can't be done within the physial limitations of the RAM available. Post your Regex. I won't be able to fix it (I suck at Regex), but somebody will.
