MYSQL_SELECT_DB is neither smart nor persistant.
If your code calls SELECT_DB, mysql executes it.
I actually use persistant connections on a server handling ~40 mysql enabled
clients.
It increases my performance to have all of my MySQL connections cached, so
all each customer query needs is a change db, make query.

Subject: [PHP] mysql persistent connections / php4
Hi,
I am curious over these lines in my mysqld.log:
355 Query SELECT Value FROM Session WHERE
SessionID = 'f302e1a31ccf0bcdb75547bb0ea9f83b' AND Expires > NOW()
355 Statistics
355 Init DB sonoxsession
355 Query SELECT SessionID FROM Session WHERE
SessionID = 'f302e1a31ccf0bcdb75547bb0ea9f83b'
355 Statistics
355 Init DB sonoxsession
Why Init DB and Statistics, when I use pconnect?
