post doesn't work?

I have a form that posts to another php file. But it won't display the var? It just shows a blank screen.
For example
test.php has form input name
test2.php prints name
On test2.php it shows a blank screen, but if I assign $name on test2.php and reload, it will print the var. Is there something in the php.ini that I have to change to get vars to post? or some setting somewhere else?
