Show some code. What's the actual value of the cookie before you
stripslashes() it?
I'll guess that you're not assigning the result to anything. Are you
doing this?
stripslashes($_COOKIE['value']);
instead of
$new_value = stripslashes($_COOKIE['value']);
??
