I have been working with PHP3 and MySQL for over a year for developing
my own sites.
My current "day job" is a 4-day-a-week position as a combination
of Project Manager and Senior Business Analyst for a health insurance
company. In that position I have been responsible for full development
of the company's web site, which includes extensive support for
insurance agents. The platform is ASP, IIS, SQL Server 7.0. Most
data is imported from a legacy OpenVMS system. Other responsibilities
include re-engineering the underwriting department from soup to nuts.
I had full responsibility for the Y2K project in which we remediated
over 1.5 million lines of ugly code on the legacy system; the project
was an unqualified success.
Through numerous accomplishments, I have gained substantial respect at
this company from the employees through the executives and owners.
I wish to move away from the legacy systems, IIS and ASP environments.
I enjoy working with PHP, MySQL and Unix. I prefer to focus more on
these platforms and design web-based business applications. I am more
than capable of handling all aspects of such projects, from process
design and conceptual design, right through to functional specs,
project management and coding.
I am available four days per week on a medium-term contract basis or
for part-time employment with minimal travel. I am located in Arizona.
