I'm yet to get Java and Linux working together (unlike you i dint read the
readme and tried first off with the Sun VM), anyway i've had it running on a
Windows box and its runs really well. We can now access all our java class's
with minimal effort. On windows at least it appears to be stable and very
worthwhile.
Why is it worthwhile? There are tonnes of Java classes out there that do
heaps of things from generating Organisation Charts to managing Hamster
collections so by installing the Java extensions you have dramatically
extended PHP.

Subject: JavaClasses and PHP4
Hi!
I tried to install the Java feature with PHP4 ... and I failed. I tried
it
on a RedHat 6.2, with apache 1.3.12 and php4pl2 and kaffe 1.0.5.
I set up everything as said in the README in /ext/java but after
restarting the
webserver, I tried to start the sample php pages, but all I get is this
eg in: http://bfi.pixelwings.com/java/jawt.php
Fatal error: Unable to load Java Library /libkaffevm.so in
/home/httpd/html/java/jawt.php on line 5
this .so is in the correct directory, and I also configured PHP.ini like
this and added:
[java]
java.library.path=/usr/lib/kaffe:/usr/src/web_server/php-4.0.1pl2/modules
java.class.path=/usr/share/kaffe/Klasses.jar:/usr/src/web_server/php-4.0.1pl
2/modules/php_java.jar
extension_dir=/usr/src/web_server/php-4.0.1pl2/modules
extension=libphp_java.so
anybody knows if there is a possibilty to get this thing working ? and
is it worth to try it out ? is it
stable and can I really do some java programming ?
any help would be really great! thank you.
