Hi Boris,
Having been programming with PHP for more than an year, I am biased towards
PHP however on insistence of my mentor I had installed Tomcat and worked
with some JSP & Servelet stuff
Despite the fact that I did know a bit of Java I found the learning curve to
be very steep for JSP & Servelet
Also deploying a JSP/Servelet app is comparatively difficult
The only (and this may be the biggest killer) advantage which JSP / JDBC
offered was Db connection pooling ! ?
While PHP makes one connection per user you can pool DB connections for
reuse in Java
HTH
