another looping question

Hey guys, I've finished a script that gets the 8 letters surrounding a specified character. I'm having trouble looping through every letter until my script checks and sees that it's not a word nor a beginning of a word (I have scripts to check those). More simply, it should recurse through every single possible combination of letters and only stop when a conditional statement tells it to. My datafile is setup like this. --------------- happyhowareyou enjoy mealih opeyoudidgoodt hatiswonderful -------------- The script should start with the first 'h' and print out happy, hen, and any more words I can't see right now that begin with h, then move onto the a.
