HI again,
i was suggested to do the following to use virtualhosts without a name
server:
### STEP 1 ###
/etc/hosts file
127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost
0.0.0.0 nick
192.168.0.1 badboy badboy.carrierworld.com
www.carrierworld.com www.niceguy.com www.foobar.com # all in one line
### STEP 2 ###
httpd.conf file
# just the virtual host section
NameVirtualHost 192.168.0.1
<VrtualHost 192.168.0.1>
ServerAdmin badboy@carrierworld.com
DocumentRoot
/home/carrierworld/old_site/htdocs
<Directory
"/home/carrierworld/old_site/htdocs">
Options Indexes FollowSymLinks +Includes
AllowOverride None
</Directory>
ServerName badboy.carrierworld.com
ErrorLog logs/carrierworld_old-error_log
CustomLog logs/carrierworld_old-access_log
common
</VirtualHost>
Yet this doesn't work: whilst art least httpd starts this time, netscape
give me the error:
TCP error: server not found
The sever may be down or temporarily unavailable
evenb thoguh httpd is working......
any ideas whi this is ????
