So far I can't get PHP to display any errors or to log them. Apache
2.0.40, PHP 4.2.3, Debian Linux, but Apache and PHP are compiled from
the source code, not installed as dpkgs. This is what the error
reporting section of my php.ini file looks like (options not included
are commented out):
error_reporting = E_ALL
display_errors = On
display_startup_errors = On
log_errors = On
track_errors = On
html_errors = On
error_prepend_string = "<font color=ff0000>"
error_append_string = "</font>"
error_log = /var/log/php/error_log
warn_plus_overloading = Off
Right now I'm trying to get it to spit out anything. If I can get error
logging to work, I'll shut off all the display logging options.
Apache is running as a non-privileged user. What do I need to set the
file ownership and privileges to for the directory /var/log/php and the
file /var/log/php/error_log?
