Multiple paths in safe_mode_exec_dir ?

Hi,
Is there any good reason why one is not able to use a colon separated path,
in safe_mode_exec_dir, in a similar fashion to the include_path and
safe_mode_include_dir directives?
Can the problem be solved in any other way than duplicated executables or
ugly symlinks?
