using declare .. ticks functionality

Hi All, Quick question, has anyone had any luck using the register_tick_function and declare (ticks=32){ ...} construct? I have a need to try this out to measure the times taken in various functions etc using this sort of method, I want to know is there any way of extracting the function name or some sort of useful information and passing it to the registered tick function.
