Remove the dollar signs from in front of the function names--the code
above is trying to call the functions whose names are given by the
variables '$mysql_free_result' and '$mysql_close', which apparently
aren't defined. So you'd do:
mysql_free_result($sql_result);
mysql_close($dbconnection);
