Thank you, that's most helpful. I hadn't noticed that tucked away in the
"Migrating from PHP2" appendix of the manual. And now I know something about
C that I didn't know before, too. That's quite important to know. It
presumably means that it is a really bad idea to put expressions with side
effects (assignments, increments, etc.) in Boolean expressions that might
short circuit, in case they don't get evaluated.
