audio file upload and php versions

Hi, I put together a simple file upload example that functions on my site; however, a user recently pointed out that it was not working in their PHP environment. The problem was that the uploaded files were not showing up in their "uploads" directory. I believe the user had file/directory read/write access set correctly. Could someone point out what is the platform or version specific feature that may be the problem.
