Depending on what you mean by special the answer could be YES or NO.
--with-gd --enable-gd-native-ttf --with-jpeg-dir=/usr --with-png-dir=/usr
--with-freetype-dir=/usr --with-zlib-dir=/usr
... will probably cover all the common functionality
