I'm about ready to give up on PHP (at least PHP 4.0). I submitted
configure details as well as a backtrace and that obviously wasn't
enough to give anyone an idea of what's going wrong. Since a number of
users are experiencing the same problems, I guess it must be a difficult
bug/issue to trace.
Anyway, as a last resort, I'm wondering whether anyone who experienced
anything similar was able to get PHP 4.0 running by shuffling around or
removing modules compiled into apache. The candidate I'm most interested
in is mod_perl (which I have statically compiled into apache) since it
has so many hooks into apache. Although mod_perl hasn't caused me any
problems with php 3.XXX, maybe PHP 4.0 is more sensitive.
As you can see, I'm flailing around, but I'm desperate to avoid
resorting to Perl when PHP with Zend is the obvious solution.
thoughts?
cheers
