No, it wouldn't/shouldn't matter. PHP couldn't care less whether the
output is valid HTML; it's all just text. If there was invalid PHP
code in the called file, it would matter (assuming the include()d file
is not being executed as PHP on the remote end).
In the code above the include() statement (if there is any), are there
any open braces or quotes? That tends to cause parse errors which show
up after the last line of the file, which seems to be what you're
getting.
