Setprecision ?? pls help

Hi all,
I'v got the following:
round ($val1,4);
echo "$val1";
It works fine, but when $val which is a float, contains for instance 1.1 I
want it to output 1.1000 instead of just 1.1
I know in C++ this can be done with setprecision(), but I can't seem to find
anything similar in php....please help
