$HTTP_X_FORWARDED_FOR
phpinfo();
Check that its in your PHP Info.
$REMOTE_ADDR will return the Remote Address.
I use This small loop.
if (!$HTTP_X_FORWARDED_FOR) {
$HTTP_X_FORWARDED_FOR=$REMOTE_ADDR;
}
