Thanks to both John and Scott. I found John's example to be a bit more
straight forward. Here I've modified the code to take any date in YYYYMMDD
format...
function findMonday($date)
{
//$date is in the mySQL form of YYYYMMDD
$year = intval(substr($date,0,4));
$month = intval(substr($date,4,2));
$day = intval(substr($date,6,2));
$dow = ((date("w", mktime(0,0,0,$month,$day,$year)) + 6) %
7);
$monDate = date("Ymd",
mktime(0,0,0,$month,($day-$dow),$year));
return $monDate;
}
