Magic_quotes_sybase when turned on will escape quotes and apostropes for
database inserts by using a double apostrophe ('') or double quote ("") as
needed. This is good, probably because Sybase doesn't like the \' or \" syntax.
Turns out that Informix has the same attitude towards quotes and apostrophes.
Since I am using Informix (with PEAR DB) I thought I would turn on the above
flag and all would be well. Unfortunately, it didn't work at all. The system
couldn't even connect to the database. I'm guessing that is because I don't
have Sybase support built into php.
Does anyone know for sure how this works? Can I get the magic_quotes effect w/o
recomiling php?
Thanks.
