Well, from using the native Session Id: it's omnipresent.
From using my own class: I can do things like authentication, number
of users online, pass session data from one website to another (that
we host).
My class was written back when PHP sessions were still flaky but
there's more I can get out of continuing to use my class than switching
gears and starting to use native PHP sessions.
