If there's a parse error, it won't even see your error_reporting line. You'll have to turn error_reporting on by another means (either php.ini, httpd.conf, or a .htaccess file). Miles Thompson wrote:
I just opened up a test account with experthost.ca - created database & uploaded data. Yes, everything is there and phpMyAdmin doe work. Uploaded my logon script, tried it - nothing, not even an error. Amended the script so it would throw an error. Tried the same thing with another file, an intentional error, that is. Nothing. phpinfo(), core functions, indicates that display_errors and display_startup_errors are both OFF, and that error_reporting is set to 2039. (If you want to check yourself the URL is http://66.165.93.79/phpinfo.php ) I added this code to the script:
    error_reporting (E_ERROR | E_WARNING | E_PARSE | E_NOTICE);
expecting that would override the settings and report errors. Nothing. Nada. Zip. What's the obvious step I'm missing? TIA - Miles
