Hi pros,
I am having some problems remotely get html output so that I can search it
for a particular phrase.
I am on a project in making a website for a shoutcast
(http://www.shoutcast.com <http://www.shoutcast.com/>
) DJ. He wants the
website to automatically updates the current song title being broadcasted.
For those who dont know how shoutcast works, here it is:
- A shoutcast server is installed at a web server, in this case it
is at http://www.shinningstudios.com:8000
<http://www.shinningstudios.com:8000/> .
- The DJ has software that connects his broadcasting software to the
server. Details not important.
- Listeners connects to the DJs software via the server.
- The server collects information from both the broadcasting
software and the client and generates a HTML interface at
http://www.shinningstudios.com:8000 <http://www.shinningstudios.com:8000/>
so that both the DJ and the listeners can view the stations status. One of
the info in that page is the Current song title
http://www.shinningstudios.com:8000/played.html
My plan was to fopen() the http://www.shinningstudios.com:8000/played.html
and search the page for the song title, but, in actual fact, the page
doesnot exist! It is generated by the shoutcast server.
Then I try to include() http://www.shinningstudios.com:8000/played.html
so
that i make a real page out of it. However, it still din work because the
page does not exist!!
My conclusion was that I needed a function that can return the output of the
URL rather than the actual file. I believe this is possible because in
macromedia flash 6, I use something similar, loadvariables() to get the
output of a file (i.e. php).
So
can anyone tell me what is this function or what else you think I can
try?
Yours sincerely,
Mr See Kok Boon
