LOAD INFILE WITH PHP 4.3.1

I was using the LAOD DATA LOCAL INFILE command in a script on the server and
it was working fine. Now my provider has has upgraded from PHP 4.2.2 to PHP
4.3.1 and it's not working anymore.
The strange thing is that NOTHING ELSE HAS CHANGED!! I have cecked database
permissions, file permissions etc. But I can't get a decent trace either. My
script still executes the DELETE FROM ... query to clear out the old data
but simply bombs on the LOAD DATA LOCAL INFILE command.
Does anyone have an explanation ?
