Pass POST variables between windows

Hi,
i have the following form on my page:

action="javascript:openNewWindow('view_query.php')"
method="get">

</tr>
<tr>

</tr>
</form>
however I cant get the contents of the text field to display in my new
window, is it possible to pass POST variables between windows?
