i just wanted to post an observation about this mailing list.
no matter how much you know, there is always someone who knows more.
despite how well-versed someone is in PHP or even programming in general, there are times when you're just too involved for the answer to be apparent, and it takes an outsider to peruse your code and/or problem to point out the flaw and offer workable suggestions. as it is said, "no person is an island" (which is paraphrased for inoffensiveness). an outside opinion. a fresh set of eyes. a noob with a reference book.
i'd like to applaud the ppl that swallow their ego and ask for help, as programmers (the ones i've known personally, anyway, and that includes myself) tend to have stiff backs when it comes to asking for aid. and even if the solutions provided do not meet the petitioner's standards, the answers serve as a goad for the seeker to discover a solution for themselves, because the prominent mentality (as per my experience) encompasses the ideal that is exemplified in this statement: "if i can jump over it, i can code it."
the solutions and suggestions posted vary from arrogant to humble, and despite the manner of conveyance, the seeker eagerly jumps upon any responses and even rejoices, in a self-serving manner, in the solutions and suggestions that fail to produce. if nothing else, they help eliminate possibilites.
since i see all manner of responses on here, i've chosen to be humble. even when i think, "what an absolute moron! perhaps they can't read", i know i've posted questions that to someone else was as obvious as the sky.
my sincere appreciation to you all,
happy coding,
jason
