The older versions of Dreamweaver did mess with you code but MX and the previous version have made no attempts to change PHP code within the HTML. Also on large sites Dreamweaver can update 100's of pages in minutes with template changes. This allows me to keep our server running at 98% free instead of tying up processing for PHP templates.
I believe there is a place for WSYWIG editors and hand coding it just depends on the situation.

It's not just you. A former co-worker insisted on using Dreamweaver for even the simplest projects. He had to abandon doing PHP in it because Dreamweaver kept putting weird things in the PHP code. -- S. Keller UI Engineer The Health TV Channel, Inc.
