require() problem

i have some code like:
$path="c:\program files\abria merlin\apache\htdocs\lib\conf";
require($path."\db.set);//windows only
and for error on web page i get:
Parse error: parse error in c:\program files\abria
merlin\apache\htdocs\lib\db\db.lib on line 6
Fatal error: Cannot instantiate non-existent class: db in c:\program
files\abria merlin\apache\htdocs\index.php on line 3
how should i fix the problem
