If register_globals is set to "on" in php.ini, then you want to use the session variables directly, instead of through the array. For example, do this: $scott = "things that make you go hrm"; session_register('scott'); $HTTP_SESSION_VARS["scott"] will then have the assigned value on the *next* page, not the current page. $scott will also have the assigned value on the next page. With register_globals enabled, there is no real need to use the $HTTP_SESSION_VARS[] array.
