Yeah thats the way I've got it working so far, but I want to make it browser independant and not rely on them having an XML aware browser.
It would also be useful for future projects as well, because many companies offer realtime XML files of certain things (server status pages for example) and you might want to format in your own way. You obviously can't change the XML file to include a link to your style sheet so it has to be done server side.

I was going to mention that the best way to do it is to create xml pages with php and then have the browser(s) handle the xslt transformation for you. That way you do not have to do it in PHP, but the client browser can do it... Basically, in your xml file you will specify the xslt stylesheet you want to use for the transformation. I would check out xml.com and here is some more links: http://www.w3schools.com/xml/default.asp http://www.w3schools.com/xsl/default.asp http://www.w3schools.com/xsl/xsl_w3celementref.asp -- Ray On Wed, 2003-04-23 at 16:28, Matthew Walden wrote:Great thanks :) Unfortunatly my host doesn't have this extension installed so I'll either have to find another solution or get onto them about having it enabled I think. Ray Hunter wrote:Have a look at the xslt extension that uses the sablotron libraries. That will allow you to do the xml + xslt -> html transformation. -- Ray On Wed, 2003-04-23 at 15:41, Matthew Walden wrote:I'm wondering whether anyone can help me out with this. ASP has a nice function which parses two files - XML and XSL and outputs pure HTML to the browser. I've looked through the documentation I could find for PHP XML functionality and could only find explanations for making custom parsers. What I'm looking for is something like what ASP offers - this simple way of parsing the two files server side to send pure HTML to the client. I can't beleive this doesn't exist because PHP does pretty much everything else that ASP does, but I can't see how its done. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
