You need to figure out what is being used for "returns" in the Memo field. I would assume you are using Access. I'm not positive what Access uses for returns in Memo fields, but a vertical tab (ascii 11) or form feed (ascii 12) are pretty commonly used. If you export your database as tab/return delimited, you may be able to figure out what characters are used inside memo fields for tabs and returns. It shouldn't export embedded tabs and returns as tabs and returns since that would screw up the export format.
I'm basing this info on how FileMaker handles "Memo" fields.
