Hi,
If someone want to protect PHP code from being stolen might simply opt for PHP Obfuscator called POBS. It will render sources almost unreadable. Also, there is program codelock which costs only $45 which encrypts php sources. Additionally, there is a number of free and commercial PHP encoders.
