Switching to/from PHP mode takes a couple cycles, and print() function
takes a couple cycles...
So it depends on how much of either you have, but anything more than a few
lines of static HTML is probably faster to break out of PHP mode and keep
static. I also find it easier to understand what's going on that way, but
that's a religious opinion.
Focussing on this issue instead of figuring out where/why your server
performance is slowest and fixing that is generally a waste of time.
