Hi,
I think your problem comes from the PHP script and not from SQL
I looked at your code (the link)
//snippet
sql = "SELECT password FROM auth_users WHERE username = '$_POST[username]'";
$query = mysql_query( $sql ) || die( "query failed" );
//snippet
$_POST[username] is not a good idea; you should use $_POST['username'],
otherwise PHP looks for a constant named username and I suppose you don't
have it.
Also, make sure the method you transmit variables from the FORM is POST
and not GET
Cheers,
Catalin
