I'm using PHP4 version 4.01pl2 on a linux server to develop a site. It is
using the built in session management functions in PHP4 saving to the temp
directory as is the default along with cookies. What is happening is that
session registering of variables is happening erratically. I'll login to
the site which sets a session_user variable to a number. The debug code
shows the variable as set on that page. However, when I go to another page
on the site sometimes it is back to being empty. I may have to login 4 or 5
times before it will catch. I've also got a page counter debug variable
that is suppose to increment everytime a page is changed. Sometimes I can
sit an refresh the browser on a page all day long and it just increments
fine. Othertimes it will just set at say 4 like the session variable isn't
being incremented. The crazy thing is that the session problems are
intermittent. At times everything works fine and others the session
variables just don't update. I've checked the temporary session directory
and everything seems to be in order. I've also checked the server and there
is plenty of memory and hard disk space, etc. Everything else with PHP
works fine with the site. Has anyone every heard of anything like this
going on?
