Going Back in PHP

I am trying to help one of our admins with a php config/setup issue on one of our servers; the admin re-compiled php, but did not include all of the correct settings. Outside of having the previous make and config files, is there any other files on the server that may hold the old settings so that we can gather them and return to the previous way we had php set up? Thanks, -Mike
