uhm you can't get the users pass in an environment variable like that....
there needs to be atleast _some_ security when dealing with that kinda
stuff, if you absolutely _need_ this you need to do the http basic auth at
your script level and not the server

Subject: [PHP] Help?
When I type in a username and password for a login screen that usess the
.htaccess file, does the PASSWORD get stored to a file? because I want to
be able to assign a person's password with their name, for example:
if ($password == "james2345") echo ("Hey James";)
like that. I know that the username gets stored to $REMOTE_USER but what
does the password get stored to?
And another thing, how do I make a FORM type username and password field
that gets the usernames and passwords from a file? Thanks a lot,
Chris.
