How to get data from database with a click

Dear Friends, When we click a combo box, in a perticular file, the output from the database should display in the same screen, in a text box or a combo box (We want this to happen without pressing the submit button). Any clue please???? Alternatively you can try to exec find. These can be done painlessly and you don't have to install any software. If you need a more sophisticated solution i belive htdig has the facility to index from local files.
