Mail() Problem Sending

I have recently had php installed on my server with sendmail. The server is behind a firewall and
SMTP is open on the firewall. However, when I execute the mail(), it appears to have sent the mail,
but I never receive it. I am not getting any error messages. Has anyone ever run into this
problem? Does anyone have any ideas?
