php 4.2.3 on AIX - include statment cause seg. fault

After upgrading from php 4.0.x to 4.2.3
many previous php scripts that had been working failed
becos of the "include" statement
The apache error log logged "segmentation fault"
I think it might have to do with AIX as there are
no problems for 4.2.3 which I've installed on Tru 64 Unix
(I've checked the php.ini file and the are the same on both platforms)
Anyone who has encountered this for AIX ?
