okay, the situation:
i have a bundle of php scripts that do nifty things like talk to oracle,
format output, et cetera, all things php is quite handy at doing.
and i have a servlet that can render 3d graphs and charts so the stuff
i get from the db looks purty so the suits can ooh and aah over how cle-
ver the monkeys with funny-coloured hair down in engineering are. oh,
and i have another servlet that can assemble an excel workbook from the
dataset, so the suits can wave their hands in the clients' general di-
rection and point out how robust our feature-set is.
the suits seem reasonably happy with this state of affairs.
problem is, i can't quite figure out how to tell the jsp/servlet bit
about the data that comes back from oracle. 'leastways not cleanly.
url-encoding is a bust, as we quickly run into the maximum length of
a url. POSTing to the servlet/GETting the resulting image is kludgy
in the extreme, and has some nontrivial synchronization issues, to
boot. and the SAPI stuff in 4.0.2 is undocumented, and from what i
can tell appears to exist for chaining -to- php from servlets, which
is the opposte direction of what i need.
so, has anyone here called jsp/servlets from php? how?
cheers,
/rls
