Attachments in email

I need to have php generate an email with an attachment. How would I go
about doing something like this..
This is what I have to generate the actual email:
mail ($email_addy,$subject,gen_email($mysql_row[0],$mysql_row[1]),From:
$from\nContent-Type: text/html);
How does the attachment get added?
