OK, I've been asking a lot of questions, and I've not yet found
solutions to most of them. What solutions have been provided me by the
wonderful people of this forum, I am very very grateful. Here's a quick
run-down of my problems:
First off, I'm using:
SPARC 10 with Solaris 8
gcc 2.95
make 3.79
Apache 1.3.12
PHP 4.0.0
MySQL 3.22.32
1. Installing PHP with MySQL support as a static Apache module:
- PHP compiles just fine. PHP installs into the Apache source directory
just fine.
- Apache configure script runs just fine.
- When I "make" Apache, I get unresolved symbols for the MySQL API
functions (mysql_connect(), mysql_query(), et al.). I looked at the gcc
line and it's looking in the right place for the MySQL libraries
(/usr/local/lib/mysql)
My configure line for PHP is
./configure --with-apache=/usr/local/apache/apache_1.3.12
--with-mysql=/usr/local --enable-track-vars
My configure line for Apache is
./configure --activate-module=src/modules/php4/libphp4.a
both as prescribed in all the FAQs and manuals I've read.
OK, so I thought I'd try PHP as a dynamic module instead.
2. Installing PHP with MySQL support as an Apache DSO module:
- Apache compiles just fine with mod_so.
- apxs installs just fine. (I had edited apxs according to the PHP
FAQs.)
- PHP configure script runs just fine.
- PHP compiles just fine.
- When I try to LoadModule in the Apache httpd.conf and start httpd, I
get
"Cannot load /usr/local/apache/libexec/libphp4.so into server: ld.so.1:
./httpd: fatal: relocation error: file
/usr/local/apache/libexec/libphp4.so: symbol mysql_free_result:
referenced symbol not found"
My configure line for PHP is
./configure --with-apxs=/usr/local/apache/bin/apxs
--with-mysql=/usr/local --enable-track-vars
My configure line for Apache is
./configure --enable-module=so
Any ideas? Am I missing something?
Thanks,
Stephen.
