Hi Frank, Thanks for your help - managed to get it working after using the easy
install found here:
http://php.weblogs.com/easywindows
The weird thing is, it only recognizes .php files, while ignoring .php3, .phtml,
.php4 (is there a php4?)

Hi Ian,
You need to stop and restart the web server after editing regestry. The regestry
settings is only read when the server ist started.
You might have to reboot your computer to get the server restarted properly !
