Okay, this is just an idea.
Use file() to put everything in an array.
http://www.php.net/manual/en/function.file.php
Then find a function here that would let you check the first
four characters.
http://www.php.net/manual/en/ref.strings.php
Loop through the array created by file() and process each
line accordingly (whatever it is that you need to do with
each line).
